Hi guys,
Kevin is keen to have a new site header. The one we have was something I whipped up in a hurry when the site was still new and while it has served well it may be that it has served its purpose.

We'd like to ask the membership two things
1) What would you like to see in a new site header?
2) Are there any members keen to design a header(s) - w could have a number of submissions and then vote on them (or Kevin could just make a dictatorial choice, whichever is easier :)?

Great idea!!

How about we have a model of the month as a header - i.e. we or Kev votes for their favourite and pops that on?

If we want a static header could we have something similar to what we have now (model based) that shows each of the modelling categories - i.e a land based vehicle, sea based vehicle and an air based one?

Could we also have the header the full width of the page?

Good ideas. I tried to cover the main genres we currently have here, which is armour, aircraft and figures, but other genres could be added. Our only requirement is that they be IDF/AF related and not copyrighted or owned by others for which we don't have permission.

The problem with the header filling the whole page is that the PHP board takes a single image, and everyone has different monitors and resolutions so trying to get an image that fits all is tricky. If you make it too big, then some browsers will chop it. If you make it too small you have what we currently do, which was a compromise for the perceived min resolution most people would be using. I did add extra white space either side of the image to try and pad it some, but it is tricky knowing where to draw the line.

Craig,

I have done a design for the New Header taking the current one as the overall size. I have included an Israeli flag in the background and the Star of David is prominent in the centre of the design. I don't know if this may be politically risky?

I have had one reply back from the three models that I feature in my design, so when the other two give me their permission I can submit the design, if it is acceptable?

Cheers,

Richard Howden

Fellow modellers,

find attached my design for a new Website Header for your kind consideration.

The model pictures used are from this website and I have received permission from the modellers except Dave Williams' Doobi, but I hope it can still be used as it fits in so well??

Many thanks,

Richard Howden.

Hi Richard,
Looks good, but a couple of requests if you are able.

1. Current header is 1280 x 240. Are you able to do a higher resolution version?
2. As the site currently gets most interest in the areas of IDF aviation, armour and figures, the idea with the current header is a reflection of those genres. Are you able to add a figure for balance?
