For those of you who are interested, here are some pictures of the French Lizard Camo Pattern.

(This 'smock' actually belongs to Graham Carruthers, and the photo's are posted with his kind permission)..

Cheers
Andy

Hi there
I am afraid this is not French... Although very similar, the French pattern has a very distinctive spot shape and overlap. This looks more like either a reproduction of the Greek or Portuguese camo pattern used to make civilian hunting clothes.
If someone needs a photo of the original jump suit, please send me an email.
ciao

Hi Seacon

Can you post your pictures up for comparison :?: If not can you email me them...Cheers

I found the following on TridentMilitary.com (linked through zahal.org) they are noted as...

French Reproduction Model 47/53 Algerian War Lizard Camouflage Jackets.
French Reproduction Model 47/52 Algerian War Lizard Camouflage Pants.

(I am not sure if these are the correct ones used by the IDF ether). Slightly different colours, but that could be the photography or age, but the pattern is very similar...

I suppose painting this pattern In 1/35th scale it wouldnt make make much differance, unless of course we can paint like Jaume Ortiz or Calvin Tan

Cheers
Andy

Yes, this is the right pattern. These are a pretty good repros of one of the first camo patterns. The colors are just a little off but look good as if they were a little faded. For a typical IDF look the brown should be reddish and the green is a little darker as in the later patterns.
I think that the IDF received a lot of Mle 1947/56 (some of these jackets can be found on the militaria market with Hebrew (IDF) markings). Some of the earlier models were also in use. The differences are minimal (buttons, shape of the cuffs, zippered pants pockets, etc.).
Will post some photos next week, when I'll get back home.
Ciao

Yes, those are Mle 47 TTA pants (TTA means "for general issue to all branch of the Army) made in the '50. The camo pattern is right but the cut is very different compared to the TAP (Troupes AeroPortees) type supplied to the IDF.
That's some nasty looking lizard...
Ciao

I just noticed that the uniform in the original post is a reproduction of the French Mle 47/52 offered as a set by some well known militaria dealers in the US.
